Ag in the Classroom

Thank you to Farm Bureau and for sponsoring today's Ag in the Classroom!  We had fun learning about Sounds on the Farm.  First we listened to a story and then we looked at pictures of different animals and things on the farm.  We named the pictures and made the sound.  Then we played a game where we had to listen to different sounds and try to name them.  We were awesome at this game-we also did a great job of raising our hands rather than blurting out the answers!

Guest Readers for DEAR Day

Today we were lucky to have 2 special guest readers in our classroom!  Mrs. Straw, Lily's mom, read to us this morning.  She shared one of Lily's favorite books, Dream Snow by Eric Carle.  We loved how the tree was all sparkly at the end and the music it played.  Thank you Mrs. Straw!

Then this afternoon, Mrs. Larson visited us to read Max's Christmas and The Very Snowy Christmas.  We love having guest readers.  Thank you Mrs. Larson!

Star of the Week-"Joey the Elf"

Joey decided he should be our star of the week this week!  He brought us pictures of himself along with his All About Me fact sheet.  We enjoyed learning all about him.  He also had a special friend visiting with him all day!

Friday Fun with Joey the Elf

We were starting to get worried today (Friday, Dec. 12) as we could not find Joey the Elf anywhere!  He finally showed up after lunch with a Candy Cane cookie mix for us to make!  We had to mix up 2 different types of dough (white and red).  Then we each got a little of each color of dough to roll into a ball and then into a snake.  Then we had to twist the white and red together and shape into a candy cane.  We baked them and had a delicious snack!  Thank you Joey.

Merry Christmas to Will, our E-hawk buddy!

Today is Thursday and the day for our E-hawk buddy, Will, to come to our classroom.  We are always so excited to see Will.  Today he had a special gift for us-a new game, Candyland!  Thanks Will.

We also had a surprise for Will.  We had all signed a card for him with a special DQ treat!

Jingle Bells with Joey

Today we found Joey on the CD player with some jingle bells and new Christmas CD for us!  We got to ring our own bells and sing "Jingle Bells!"  In the afternoon, we had to be a great audience for our Kindergarten and First Grade friends as we watched their concert rehearsal.  Good luck tonight!

A surprise gift!

Thank you to the book elves who left a very special package in our classroom today!

A very special guest reader!

Today we had a very special guest reader visit in our classroom....Mrs. Garrelts came to share a Christmas story with us.  Those of us who had her as our preschool teacher last year, were so excited to see her and get a chance to wish her Merry Christmas!  Thank you, Mrs. Garrelts!

Letters to Santa

When we arrived at school this morning, Joey the Elf, was busy writing a letter to Santa.  He also left us some paper and stickers so we could write our own letters to Santa.  We looked through catalogs to find pictures of different things we wanted to put on our wish list for Santa.  Joey will deliver our letters to Santa tonight.

Learning some healthy habits with Mrs. Schiek

We had Guidance with Mrs. Schiek Tuesday morning.  She read us a book about staying healthy and needing to use a tissue not our fingers in our nose!  We then got to practice using a tissue and getting a squirt of hand sanitizer to clean our hands.  Hopefully we will also remember to cough into our elbows.  We want to stay healthy and be able to be at school.  We also want to keep our families healthy.

A North Pole breakfast

Joey welcomed us back to school this week with a special North Pole breakfast!  We enjoyed his mini donuts!

Friday Fun with Joey the Elf

One of our classmates spotted Joey right away this morning.  He had a great view of the classroom as he was hanging out up on the projector screen cord where he could see everything!  Today he brought us a bag of mini m & ms to use when we made our gingerbread cookies.  Thanks Joey!

Star of the Week

Morgan is our Star of the Week this week.  She shared her favorite toy, book and several pictures with us.  We loved the pictures of her dog, Bella, and her baby puppies!

Guest Reader!

Joey the Elf was doing a great job reading to himself today during our DEAR time.  He was reading The Night Before Christmas.  We all followed his example and did a great job reading quietly!

Excitement with Joey the Elf!

We were searching all over the classroom Wednesday morning and found our new friend, Joey the Elf, by the Christmas tree.  He had a special gift for us-peppermint lotion, to use on our hands after we come in from recess!  It smells sooo good!

Welcome to Joey the Elf!

We received a special package in the mail today in Readiness.  It was a classroom elf from the North Pole.  We were so excited by the note from Santa explaining how our classroom was chosen to receive an elf this year and we would need to give him a name!  We all thought of a name for our elf (it is a boy) and we wrote the names on a piece of paper and put them in a hat.  The name that was pulled out was "Joe" and we decided to call him "Joey."  Joey kept a watchful eye on us all day and we were wondering where he will be when we return to school tomorrow.
