Learning about turkeys with Mrs. Patton

Mrs. Patton visited our classroom on Thursday morning to talk about turkeys with us before Thanksgiving.  She read a story called I am a Turkey and shared different parts of a turkey with us. She had a turkey wing, tail feather, leg and a beard from a male turkey.  She also helped us learn how to make a turkey call.

Our Guest Reader-Mr. Carter

Mr. Carter was busy hunting for a good book all day on Thursday, November 13!  First we noticed him on the roof reading while we were out for morning recess!  Later in the day, he came to our classroom to read a couple of Pete the Cat books to us!  Thank you for reading to us!

Star of the Week

This week we are celebrating Sean Stokes as our star of the week.  Thank you, Sean for sharing your pictures with us!  We enjoyed your book also.

Seed Party

I want to send a big thank you to all the families who came with their children tonight to our Seed Project Party!  We had an awesome turnout and enjoyed sharing our project with you.  Please watch for pictures from tonight on our class website later this week or early next week as the high school girls who were our photographers tonight said they'd have pictures to me by the end of the week.

Thank you, Veterans!

We enjoyed a few special guests at lunch today!  Jacob and Ayden both had some Veterans join us for lunch.  Thank you for all you have done for our country!  We also read our Let's Find Out on Veterans Day and watched a short Scholastic video about Veterans Day.

Fall Party

We enjoyed some fun snacks for our fall party last Thursday, October 30.  We had witches brooms, witches hats and spiders!  Then we enjoyed some fun party games in the gym.  We had four stations of games.  Mrs. Rouse helped with Pin the Tail on the cat.  Mrs. Farnsworth played the Halloween Bend Game (kind of like Twister).  Mrs. Hofstad had a sticky spider throwing contest.  Mrs. Deitering had a haunted obstacle course for the children to do which included a balance beam, tunnel, mini trampoline, sensory lily pad walk, jumping and throwing bean bags.  All students were able to play all 4 games and received a special treat for playing each game!

Guest Reader-thank you Mrs. Rouse!

Thank you to Lauren's Mom, Mrs. Rouse, for coming to read to us this past Thursday.  In honor of Halloween, Lauren picked out the book Even Monsters Need Haircuts for her Mom to read to us. She also read I Need My Monster before helping us with our party games in the gym.

Lily "Our Star of the Week"

This week we are celebrating Lily Straw as our star of the week.  Lily brought pictures of her family to share with us as well as her favorite book and her favorite doll "Sophie."  Thanks for sharing with us Lily!

Pumpkin Carving

Wednesday was pumpkin carving day!  After Mrs. Deitering cut open the pumpkin, we each had a turn to reach inside and pull out the pulp and seeds.  Some of us enjoyed it and some of us did not like how the inside felt (and thought it was quite stinky)! We cleaned and washed the seeds to keep them to cook for our "Seed" Celebration party.  We voted on what kind of face we wanted our Jack-o-Lantern to have.  We chose triangle eyes, a square nose and a scary mouth.
