A Special Guest Reader

Since we had a super short week of school last week, we had a special guest reader on Tuesday rather than Thursday!  Mrs. Deitering was gone to a Mentoring meeting at the AEA office but her daughter, Kendall, came to read to us!  She read There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover (since it was St. Patrick's Day).  Thank you, Kendall!  We hope you come back to see us soon.

Celebrating Morgan's birthday

Our friend, Morgan, celebrated her 6th birthday on Wed. March 18th.  Since we did not have school on the 18th, we celebrated with her a day early on March 17th.  She brought a yummy cake for us for snack!  Thank you, Morgan.  We hope you had a great birthday!

Celebrating our 100th Day of School!

We finally were able to celebrate our 100th day of school on Friday, March 13th!  We made special "100 Hats."  We loved the decorations in our classroom, the fun snacks and all the counting we did.  We made snakes 100 inches long, did 10 sets of 10 fitness activities to make 100, and shared our special 100 day collections.  We had pennies, jelly beans, noodles, candy corn, lots of different kinds of cereal, beads, envelopes, tootsie rolls and rubberbands!

Making our own maps to find the leprechaun's gold!

After hearing the Irish Dignitary talk about leprechauns hiding their gold (and seeing a leprechaun sneak through the lunchroom), we made our own maps to help us figure out where the leprechaun might be hiding his gold.  We'll see if the maps come in handy this weekend when we are trying to find the leprechaun and his gold!  We had maps with caves, forests, high mountains, curvy roads, rivers, bridges, flowers and lots of rainbows.

Learning about Ireland!

On Thursday, March 12th, we had the chance to meet the Irish Dignitary and learn a little about Ireland!  We learned that Ireland is very green and were all excited to hear a little about leprechauns!

Donuts for Dads!

We had a great turnout Thursday morning for Donuts for Dads.  We had lots of Dads and their children enjoying donuts and a story.  Thank you PIE group for sponsoring this wonderful activity!

Fun field trip to Estherville Airport and Wellness Center

We had an awesome field trip Friday, March 6th to the Estherville Airport and Wellness Center.  Thank you to the PIE group for funding this trip for us and to Lori Stokes, for coordinating and planning the event as well as chaperoning.  Thank you also to Josh and Kelly Bay for helping out for the day.  We had great weather at the airport and were able to watch a plane come in to land and take off several times for us. We enjoyed pizza for lunch before an afternoon of swimming!  As you can see from the pictures below, a great time was had by all!  The bus ride home was very quiet!

Fun celebrating with the Cat in the Hat!

Today we celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday by wearing our own Cat in the Hat costumes!  We made our own hats, whiskers and nose to look like the Cat in the Hat.  We enjoyed having a guest reader, Haily, read Green Eggs and Ham to us.  While she was reading to us, we were interrupted by the Cat in the Hat himself, along with Thing 1 and Thing 2.  They bounded into our room with Smencils for us!  Thank you to the PIE group for the yummy snack of popcorn and M & Ms!  What a fun day!
