Cal Christensen, local gardener, came to our classroom to answer our questions about how seeds grow!  He did a great job comparing seeds to a baby.  When the seed grows up, it will look like its parent!  Tomato seeds will make a tomato and cucumber seeds will make a cucumber!  He also talked about how each baby seed has its own lunchbox to start growing right away with water and temperature.  Then as the seed grows into a plant it will need soil to get more food, air and sunlight.  He also brought different seeds, the picture of the plant or fruit with a label for us to study.  Thank you Cal!  We will be visiting Cal again this Friday on a field trip to the garden at ILCC.
